The Scarborough Subway Extension in Toronto, running from Kennedy Station to Sheppard Avenue and will provide additional capacity and reduced travel times to those living and working in the area.
WJ were initially engaged to provide dewatering services for the launch shaft, one of the most important elements of the extension as it is where the TBM (named “Diggy Scardust”) launches from. The dewatering strategy was multi-stage and involved an internal system to reduce groundwater levels within the shaft, and an external system to reduce the hydrostatic pressures from below.
The Scarborough Subway Extension joins the extensive list of subway and metro projects that WJ have successfully undertaken both in Canada and further afield.
